Alfa Nero
The Superyacht That Redefined Modern Design

Launched in 2007 by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco, the 82-meter motor yacht Alfa Nero is widely regarded as one of the most influential superyachts ever built.
Her bold design, technical innovation, and architectural interiors marked a turning point in modern yacht design.
A design ahead of its time
Two industry legends collaborated on the yacht:
Exterior — Nuvolari Lenard
Interior — Alberto Pinto
This collaboration was a true breakthrough. The Alfa Nero's exterior lines—broad, confident, and dynamic—establish a distinctive visual rhythm, instantly recognizable from afar.
And the interiors are reminiscent not of a classic yacht, but of a spacious private home-cum-gallery: abundant light, contemporary art, marble, rare woods, vast open spaces, and perfect symmetry.
In 2007, this approach was unprecedented—and today, many imitate it, but the Alfa Nero remains the original.

Revolutionary Aft Deck Infinity Pool Alfa Nero was among the first yachts to introduce a fully convertible aft deck infinity pool. The hydraulic pool floor can rise to deck level, transforming the space into a seamless open terrace, entertainment area, or event platform. This concept later became a reference point for many new-build superyachts.

The Nuvolari Lenard exterior became a true visual manifesto of its time.
Key features:
  • low, elongated stern silhouette
  • minimum visual "weight"
  • clear horizontal lines
  • emphasis on open public areas
This approach has had a direct influence on the design of modern yachts of 70–90 meters, where lifestyle is more important than formal symmetry.
Alberto Pinto's interiors aren't classic luxury, but a carefully crafted artistic language.
On board:
  • Pop Art and Art Deco elements
  • Sculptural furniture
  • Bold combinations of materials and textures
  • Panoramic glazing
The central element is a spiral staircase surrounding a glass elevator, visually uniting the decks into a single space.

After more than 14 years in service, Alfa Nero returned to Refit at Oceanco Life Cycle SupportAfter years of operation, Alfa Nero returned to Oceanco Life Cycle Support, her original builder’s refit facility.

The refit included:

a complete repaint of the hull and superstructure

engine room renovation

technical and stabilization improvements

A return to the "home" shipyard for such a large-scale renovation is a rarity in the superyacht world.

Technology, Comfort & PerformanceAlfa Nero is powered by twin MTU diesel engines and equipped with Rolls-Royce Aquarius stabilizers, ensuring exceptional comfort at anchor and underway. With a top speed of approximately 20 knots, she balances performance with long-range cruising capability.
