Aviva
Superyacht: The 98m Floating Home with the World’s Only Full-Size Padel Court

The 98-meter Aviva, built by the renowned German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen, is far more than just another superyacht. It is the personal floating home, office, and fully equipped sports complex of billionaire Joe Lewis, owner of Tottenham Hotspur and a passionate padel player.
His request reshaped the entire design of the yacht—and made Aviva one of the most innovative vessels ever launched.
Designed specifically around the owner's obsession with padel tennis, Aviva features the world’s only complete padel court on a yacht.
Its dimensions are astonishing:
  • 20 m length
  • 10 m width
  • 6.65 m height
The court spans two full deck levels, becoming the central architectural element of the yacht’s interior.
According to Reymond Langton Design, who crafted the yacht’s interior:
The owner wanted the best padel court in the world. And he got exactly that—without a single compromise in size, quality, or layout.”

When the court isn't used for padel, the space transforms into:

  • a mini indoor football field,
  • the largest crew gym ever installed on a yacht,
  • a versatile sports hall for workouts and training.

It’s not only a lifestyle feature for the owner but part of the onboard crew culture—crew are encouraged to play, train, and stay active together with guests.

Unlike most owners who visit occasionally, Joe Lewis:
  • spends a significant part of the year on Aviva,
  • uses it as a home, workspace, and private retreat,
  • plays padel daily regardless of weather or location.
This is why the court had to be indoors—always accessible, no matter the conditions.

The 98-meter yacht is the third Aviva built for Joe Lewis at Abeking & Rasmussen:
  • Aviva I
  • Aviva II
  • Aviva III (current, 98 m)
With each version, the yacht became more sophisticated, more technologically advanced, and increasingly tailored to Lewis’ personal lifestyle.
Aviva is not only about lifestyle innovation—she’s also a technological landmark.
Key features include:
  • hybrid electric propulsion system
  • ability to cruise at 11 knots purely on electric power
  • low-resistance hull, engineered specifically to reduce drag
  • significantly lower fuel consumption
  • reduced vibrations and smoother overall motion
  • a top speed of 20 knots
The yacht practically “glides” across the water.
With 5,000 GT of internal volume, Aviva feels more like a multi-storey private residence than a traditional yacht.
Inside, she accommodates:
  • a luxurious interior by Reymond Langton Design
  • full business and office facilities
  • crew service areas on a grand scale
  • the iconic indoor sports complex
  • large guest accommodations and owner spaces
It is one of the most livable yachts ever built.

Why Aviva Is Considered One of the Most Innovative Yachts of Modern Times
  • world’s only full-size indoor padel court
  • enormous interior capacity
  • hybrid silent cruising
  • efficient and custom hull form
  • a yacht built around lifestyle, not status
  • personal story and continuity between three generations of Aviva
Aviva isn’t just a luxury vessel—it’s the physical expression of her owner's life, habits, and passions.
For her groundbreaking onboard sports hall, Aviva received:
BOAT International Design & Innovation Award (2018)

No yacht before her had ever integrated such a space so seamlessly.
